The Department for Women reports that meetings have begun with women's associations in the municipality, through discussion groups, to gather input and ideas and collect needs to contribute to the development of the Second Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities between Men and Women.
In the words of the Councillor for Women and Equality, Cristina García-Vaso, “this Second Equality Plan, which will be in effect for four years, from 2019 to 2022, includes a series of areas and themes directly related to gender equality, which are distributed as follows:
– Public Action with a gender focus.
– Women's participation and empowerment.
– Coeducation, education and training with gender awareness.
– Shared responsibility for balancing work, personal and family life.
– Employment and Training.
– Health and quality of life.
– Urban planning with a gender perspective.
– Towards a city free of gender-based violence.
The Councillor for Women and Equality stressed that “all these areas share a common main objective: to respond to the current needs of women in order to address the existing situation of gender inequality; influencing public awareness of new values surrounding equality and creating the necessary framework for greater visibility and empowerment of women in the political, social, economic and cultural life of the city.”
