Sources from the Department of Health report that the renovation and expansion work on the Sierra Ascoy Zoological Center (municipal animal shelter) is getting underway again at a good pace. "They have suffered delays due to the consequences of the current state of emergency, but everything will return to normal," says Councilor Francisco Saorín.
The councilor explains that, once completed, "all the animals we removed from them that haven't been adopted in the meantime will be brought back, and the Department of Health has absolute control over them. When the work is finished, we will have worthy facilities for managing the service and providing a dignified life for abandoned animals."
These facilities, once the first expansion project, which is currently underway, is completed, will be subject to a second improvement project, approved for the second consecutive time through participatory budgeting.
"Cieza, thanks to its people, is a municipality sensitive to animal life, committed to 'zero slaughter,' and from the City Council, we are making the effort to ensure that everything comes to fruition. The animal business in Cieza is over, and the ultimate goal, overcoming all the difficulties we have encountered and that I am sure will continue to arise, is for our town to have decent facilities and, why not, municipal management," concludes Saorín.
