The Ministry of Health will allocate 1,250,432 euros to improve the facilities of the Vega 'Lorenzo Guirao' Hospital in Cieza. The entire air conditioning system in the hospital wards and the building's centralized cooling system will be renovated.

These improvements aim to ensure greater safety in the production of the cold required to air-condition the center in summer, and will allow the generated cold to be used appropriately in patient rooms. The goal is to ensure the necessary comfort in each hospital room and other areas on these floors.

Specifically, the work includes replacing the cold water production equipment, necessary for the hospital's air conditioning in the summer, and the devices that extract cold water to provide freshness to each room. In addition, the room equipment is being replaced with state-of-the-art technology.

The installation of a centralized climate control system will improve patient comfort in rooms and other hospitalized areas and will allow all room temperatures to be recorded throughout the day. This will ensure that adequate conditions are maintained at all times and will also record the current state of each room.

The work also includes replacing the water pipes that connect the production equipment to the equipment in each room and the masonry work necessary to restore the ceilings and walls to their original condition.

Around 3,500 admissions per year

The Vega 'Lorenzo Guirao' Hospital has 589 staff members, 121 of whom provide primary care services. Annually, it records nearly 3,500 admissions, more than 22,200 stays, and approximately 36,800 emergencies.

Between 2015 and 2016, investments totaling 1.2 million euros were made, including a computed tomography (CT) scanner, a mammogram, and various surgical equipment, in addition to the Pharmacy clean room.

This year, in addition to the air conditioning upgrade, improvements to digital radiology, the construction of a new operating room, and the expansion of the endoscopy unit will also be undertaken.
