Due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Department of Employment and Economic Development, in collaboration with the Cieza Farmers' Center (COAG, UPA, and FECOAM) and the unions UGT and CCOO, supported the agricultural sector by opening a job opportunity so that anyone interested in working in the municipality's agricultural sector could do so throughout the campaign, both in the fields and in handling warehouses.
"Therefore, with the start of this year's agricultural campaign, and following the positive results achieved, we intend to achieve, for yet another season, the triple objective of improving the social and labor conditions of the population (ensuring better pay for the unemployed and a means of protection for the undocumented population), maintaining the income of the population most in need and agricultural activity and sustainability, while also ensuring the normal supply of markets," the City Council points out.
The aforementioned sources add that "it is essential to guarantee sufficient labor availability to meet farmers' needs, ensuring proper production, not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of time, so that it reaches the end consumer without any loss in quantity or quality."
To this end, anyone interested in working on the municipality's farms and cooperatives during the agricultural campaign should contact the Employment Department Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., by calling 968767441 or sending an email with their contact information to empleo@cieza.es.
