Sources from the Cieza City Council report that the Ministry of the Presidency, Tourism, Culture, Youth, Sports and Spokesperson, through the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts of the Region of Murcia (ICA), has granted subsidies amounting to 200,000 euros within the framework of the 'Plan Asociarte', intended for the development of cultural events in the field of performing arts, music and folklore, which have been held in the different municipalities of the Region.
These grants, which will reach a total of 111 non-profit organizations, as explained on the Community's website, "have increased by 33 percent compared to last year's call for proposals to respond to the sector's needs." Projects and activities organized by entities in Cieza received grants in previous calls for proposals under the Asociarte Plan, such as the aid for implementing the Holy Week procession location system, awarded to the Cieza Passion Brotherhoods Association, and the 2021 Christmas Concert, organized by the Ars Nova Choir.
The acting Minister of the Presidency, Tourism, Culture, Youth, Sports, and Spokesperson, Marcos Ortuño, explained that with this initiative, "the ICA (Institute of Culture of Murcia) fulfills its mission to promote, protect, disseminate, and foster the various artistic sectors of the Region of Murcia, particularly the visual arts, performing arts, music, audiovisual media, and cultural industries." Therefore, the Region continues "strengthening the cultural fabric through our collaboration with more than one hundred associations to facilitate access to culture for an ever-increasing number of citizens."
The amount of each grant ranges from €3,100 to €700, depending on the project submitted. This amount will cover advertising and promotion costs, accommodation, travel, subsistence allowances, and expenses related to the development of cultural events.
The distribution of the credit has been carried out according to the score obtained taking into account established criteria, such as the cultural interest of the show or event to be subsidized; curriculum and trajectory; that they are consolidated activities or projects in the cultural field of the Region and that they are developed in different locations.
Among the beneficiaries are associations for people with disabilities, national and international folklore festivals, symphonic bands, theater groups, traditional music clubs, religious brotherhoods, and dawn choirs. Also included are symphony orchestras, dance companies, classical music concert series, social action organizations, flamenco and folk music clubs, a concert series for young talents, and Moors and Christians federations, among others, forming a broad and diverse cultural network.
The recipients of this 2023 call for proposals will be the Cepaim Association, with its project IV International Congress of Arts and Diversity; the Association of Friends of Tenorio, for its performance 'Don Juan Tenorio'; the Association of Friends of Zarzuela of Abarán, to finance its 'Anthology of Zarzuela' and the Brotherhood of the Immaculate Conception of the Cup of Bullas.
Other entities that will receive subsidies include the Association of People with Down Syndrome (Assido), for the Dance for Diversity showcase, and Bullas Noise Pop, for its Ruidísimo 2023 project. The International Tuna Festival, the 8th International Organ Cycle of Murcia, and the national and international folklore festivals of Jumilla, Las Torres de Cotillas, Cieza, Lorca, Alhama de Murcia, Alcantarilla, and Puerto Lumbreras are some of the 111 cultural events that will also receive support from the Asociarte Plan of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts.
