The events of November 25th are presented in Cieza

The Councillor for Women and Equality, Ana Salmerón, stated today at a press conference that the Cieza City Council renews its commitment to equality and against gender violence, and expresses its concern about the persistence of all forms of violence against women, highlighting as the most visible example the 36 women murdered this year.

"This day is not a celebration, but a declaration of social emergency and an unwavering commitment from this Corporation to the victims and to equality. Every November 25th, society unites to shout 'Enough is enough' and to remember that gender violence is the most serious violation of Human Rights that we face."

Salmerón stated that, "at all times, this City Council has been and will be on the side of the victims, supporting the legitimate demand for women's right not to suffer any type of violence, and addressing, from a multidisciplinary approach, the planning of municipal policies, the comprehensive support of victims and the development of awareness and prevention measures aimed at citizens, working hand in hand with educational centers and the Municipal Women's Council."

In response to this reality, the Cieza City Council has organized a series of activities under the slogan 'Take off the blindfold' to commemorate November 25th, which not only focus on that day but also continue until December.

This campaign consists of two phases. Initially, the teachers of the municipality's secondary schools have been provided with training in prevention and awareness of gender violence by the General Directorate for Women, so that they can work on prevention and awareness of gender violence in the classroom.

In a second phase, the City Council will provide schools with customized roll-up banners featuring graphic information about different forms of violence. These banners will also include a QR code that links to the website of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, where students can access more detailed information about the various types of gender violence and available resources. Students will be able to take photos, similar to a photo booth, and upload them to their social media accounts, expressing their condemnation of this social scourge.

In addition, students will be given bracelets bearing the message of the 'Take off the blindfold' campaign.

There will also be a self-defense course for women taught by the KIAI School, on November 14, 21 and 28 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Registration at the school.

On the other hand, there will be a workshop on 'Gender Violence: effects on victims' and the presentation of the book 'Starting Point.

The march against gender violence will be held on November 24th.

As in previous years, it will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Paseo Antonio Salas and end in the Plaza de España where Mayor Tomás Rubio will read the institutional manifesto, present flowers in homage to the victims of gender violence and, to conclude the event, there will be a musical poetry recital by Carmen López Salmerón and Tete Lukas.

Ana Salmerón concluded by stating that "gender violence thrives on silence and impunity. Our commitment as a Corporation is firm and ongoing, 365 days a year. But today, November 25th, we raise our voices even louder."

Finally, the councilwoman pointed out that "there is a public responsibility of the institutions, people and groups of Cieza for equality and social justice."
