'Tristana' this Friday at the Capitol Theater in Cieza

Poster for Tristana, a play at the Capitol in Cieza.

Tristana, Benito Pérez Galdós's heroine, dreams of studying, working, and being free in a world dominated by men. She thus joins the explosion of female protagonists who, at the end of the 19th century, called for women's independence.

Galdós merges his romantic experiences with the young actress Concepción Ruth Morell and the novelist Emilia Pardo Bazán into the character of Tristana. Facing her, as if in an impossible triangle, are the seductive, outdated Don Lope and the young painter Horacio, incapable of respecting her desire for learning and emancipation. And at her side, as an accomplice and confidant, is the maid Saturna, a woman attached to reality.

Moments of smiles and moments of pain. In short, a performance that invites us to reflect on the real situation of women in today's world.
