August has begun with a scare in Cieza for the regional emergency services, as at 13:39 hours the 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Center Region of Murcia received a call from a man who, while hiking in the Barranco/Canñón de Almadenes, in the municipality of Cieza, indicated that he could not get out of it.
The caller indicated that he had left his vehicle a few meters from the Almadenes Hydroelectric Power Plant, near the Segura River.
The Emergency Coordination Center contacts the caller to ask them to send their location via mobile phone with the coordinates.
The following resources were dispatched to the scene:
- Civil Guard.
- Firefighters from the Murcia Region Fire and Rescue Consortium belonging to the Cieza Park.
- Air Rescue Group of the Fire and Rescue Consortium Region of Murcia aboard the Helicopter of the Ministry of the Presidency.
14:45 h. Firefighters from CEIS locate the hiker but indicate that they cannot access the place; rescue is necessary with the Air Rescue Group aboard the Helicopter.
14:55 h. He is rescued aboard the helicopter in perfect condition.
He did not require medical assistance.
