This Sunday, April 21, during the second day of the 'Matinés del Capitol', the renowned pianist José Alberto del Cerro performed Beethoven's acclaimed Piano Concerto No. 3, accompanied by a string quintet (formed by violinists Fulgencio Aparicio and Judit Agulló; violist Matías Mayordomo; cellist Adrián López; and double bassist José Luis Tovar), which previously performed Mozart's Little Night Serenade, so beloved in the town.
The performance of all the works—Mozart's serenade, Beethoven's concerto, and Shostakovich's Andante—was sublime. The audience remained glued to their seats, completely silent, unable to take their eyes and ears off the stage, from where the musicians conveyed all the passion and sensitivity the works required.
This highlights the need for and value of classical music in Cieza; despite coinciding with other events, the theater was packed, also attended by the Councilor for Culture, María Turpín, and the Councilor for Youth, Cristo Manuel Lucas, as representatives of the local government.
The Cieza Philharmonic's program at the Capitol Theater will continue on May 11th with a concert featuring the entire Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven's magnificent Fifth Symphony, among other works. This will be a significant milestone for Cieza.
