The Councilor for Transparency, Miguel Gual, intends to resolve the "significant delay in the drafting of plenary minutes by the City Council Secretariat. The delays in their approval by the plenary session result in minutes being approved more than six months late."
The governing team intends for the plenary minutes to be processed by artificial intelligence software that allows for their automatic transcription and thus makes them available to the public in record time.
To this end, he enlisted the invaluable help of the council members, who read a text and had their voices perfectly recognized by a specially designed computer program.
Students from the IES Los Albares have played an invaluable role in this learning phase, offering their voices to teach the machines how to recognize the unique way of speaking of the Region of Murcia.
Students from the intermediate and advanced courses in Microcomputer Systems and Networks, Multiplatform Application Development, Web Application Development, and Industrial Mechatronics participated in the experience by lending their voices to recordings that will be intelligently processed until all their words are translated into text without error, just like those of the councilors.
To date, voice recognition systems have a pending issue in the Murcian way of speaking, due to their special emphasis and accentuation, which makes them useless in professional systems.
Miguel Gual concludes that "the support of this program, at no cost to the City Council, will allow us to achieve a Transparency indicator that, until now, has not been possible."
