This time in the nearby town of Archena, where the U12 competition training camp was held, Agronolex CiezaEB wiped out a lackluster Siyasa Basket team from the field. Our kids played a game with great intensity from the first minute and great team play, with everyone contributing both on defense and offense, which quickly gave them a clear lead, which they held until the final score of 77-53. Congratulations to the boys and girls of CiezaEB and to their loyal parents for their commitment, solidarity, and sportsmanship. Now it's time to play the second phase, where we'll compete against the best teams in the region and continue learning and enjoying ourselves.
There are days when things just don't go your way, and that's what happened to our U19 team in a poor match for Ci-CARS Cieza EB, who failed to dominate their opponent, who were bottom of the table, throughout the entire period. Their overconfidence meant they were trailing the visitors throughout the match, who, with no lead on the scoreboard, managed to reach the end with greater focus, unlike the home team, who were very nervous after seeing that they couldn't get back into the game at any point. It was a game to forget and learn from, one that left a bad taste in the mouth. The final score was 46/53.
Cadet Men's Team
Another victory for Cadete Corredor CiezaEB allows them to remain firmly in the fight for first place in Silver Group 1, 65-82 against Marme. A strong start by the Ciezaeb boys put them on track for victory, 13-26 in the first quarter, although the San Javier boys refused to give up and significantly raised their physical level with aggressive defense across the entire court, leading by less than 10 points at halftime, 36-45.
With everything still to be decided, and thanks to the permissiveness of the refereeing duo, the match became a tremendous physical and mental struggle, from which the boys in black emerged the better side. Both teams played excellent defensive plays, but the Cieza team managed to steal more balls, resulting in easy baskets. This prevented the home team from getting fully involved in the match, increasing their lead at the end of the match. A great victory for our cadets in a tough match, which will help them approach the next direct duel against Lorca at home with greater confidence.
Fibranet Cadete CiezaEB lost 53-75 at home to Odilo Cartagena. The Cieza team started the game well, a performance that needed to be improved after previous matches, although neither team dominated the scoreboard, with the first quarter evenly matched. From the second quarter onwards, Cartagena demonstrated its physical superiority, scoring several easy baskets off offensive rebounds and leading the visitors 32-44 at halftime.
In the second half, the Cieza team tried to close the gap by alternating defenses and taking risks to steal the ball. They fought but were unable to reduce the lead, as each home team basket was countered by another by the visitors, resulting in the final score. Despite the result, the Ciezaeb team put in a good performance, continuing to compete and improve to face the final matches of the competition in the best possible shape.
A mixed bag for our junior teams, both with notable absences due to injured players, faced their respective rivals with different expectations.
The Junior B team traveled to Lorca to compete against one of the competition's biggest names, and they could do little to prevent the home team from increasing their lead to 83-19, which doesn't do justice to what the CiezaEB boys had shown on the field. The flip side of the coin was our Junior A team, who traveled to the capital to play against Jesuitinas, a tough team that sold their defeat dearly and held off the Cieza team until the final quarter, where tactical details, both in defense and offense, and some individual brilliance tipped the victory in our favor by 49-57.
Cadet Team
A three-point difference gives our Asesoría Saorín CiezaEB the victory in the 2nd regional division. It was an intense match with alternating scores throughout. CiezaEB wanted to run, while Jesuitinas controlled the tempo of the match and caused damage through static play. The Cieza team was very accurate from outside shooting, but not so much so, as they missed their three-pointers and forced the home side to recover. The match was evenly matched until Antonio Abellán and Santi Porras's team stepped up their attack and achieved a 0-5 run at the start of the final quarter, which they held until the 57-60 final score.
A crucial victory for BP Benedicto Cieza EB against a direct rival in the fight for survival. The match had two distinct halves. In the first twenty minutes, the Murcia team managed to impose their game, creating second and third-round shooting opportunities thanks to their superiority on the offensive rebound. They were also able to run, scoring several baskets with ease.
The Cieza team was unable to counter the opponent's play. CB El Carmen took an 8-point lead midway through the second quarter (19-27), but the home team managed to reduce the deficit to just three points, leading 31-34 at halftime. In the second half, the home team's defensive intensity increased significantly, making it difficult for the visitors to score.
This change of attitude allowed BP Benedicto to take the lead for the first time in the game with three minutes left in the period (47-44), forcing the visiting coach to call a timeout. However, a three-pointer in the final minute led to the break with the score at 55-49. The final quarter was marked by uncertainty regarding the basket average, as the home team's victory was never in danger. With seven minutes left, the Cieza team managed to tie the score (60-50). However, the Murcia team, aware of the importance of the result, managed to get within three points (60-57) with three minutes left. However, the home team gritted their teeth and managed to equalize the basket average, taking the victory 71-61.
With this victory, BP Benedicto takes another step toward remaining in the top division of Murcia basketball.
Next weekend, Saturday of basketball, at 12:00 Junior B faces Siyasa Basket in what promises to be a thrilling duel, and at 19:30 Asesoría Saorín CiezaEb 2ª Aut. faces the leader of its group CB Beniel. All in the Juan José Angosto pavilion
