The first deputy mayor of Cieza City Council, Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez, reported on the status of various municipal investments at a press conference.<\/p>\n
He explained that numerous projects have already been put out to tender in recent months, some of which have been completed or are in the process of being completed, while others have not yet begun.<\/p>\n
Among the projects that have been completed, according to L\u00f3pez, are the renovation of Hoyo Street, Parque de la Calle de la Isla, the installation of lighting on Ronda de los Fresnos, and the installation of cameras at various points throughout the city. In addition, the remodeling of the swimming pools at the Mariano Rojas Municipal Sports Center is almost complete.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, the municipal official indicates that work is underway on Mar\u00eda Pilar L\u00f3pez Park, a children's area next to the Plaza de Abastos, the sheltered housing in C\u00e1novas del Castillo, the sidewalks on Santiago Street, the remodeling of the sidewalks on Gran V\u00eda (Phase 2), and the streets of C\u00e1novas del Castillo and Duque de Rivas.<\/p>\n
L\u00f3pez clarified that there is another block, consisting of the municipal athletics track, the Ginete Bridge, the Fatego track, and Jos\u00e9 Planes, Luis Braille, and Anita Nadal streets, which are facing construction problems.<\/p>\n
"As you all know," the councilor explained, "these projects were put out to public tender, the corresponding contracts were awarded, and when the time came to begin the work, the companies, faced with the market situation caused by the global crisis we are experiencing due to, among other things, the war in Ukraine, withdrew from the contract, citing the impossibility of carrying out the work due to the prices."<\/p>\n
For Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez, "it's a significant setback, because these projects should have already begun, and they are of utmost importance to all the people of Cieza."<\/p>\n
The Government has informed the opposition of this circumstance.<\/p>\n
"The Government wants to make it clear that, despite this setback, we are not giving up on the projects, because we believe they are important and very necessary.<\/p>\n
We have already instructed the technicians to begin working on updating the prices for the projects, and the Department of Finance will study how to finance the price difference so that they can be implemented, which is estimated to be approximately one million euros. Unfortunately, this is a situation that is affecting all of Europe; some municipalities have already fully implemented the additional financing due to the price increase, and it is possible that, soon, this will have to happen in the Cieza City Council,\u201d concludes Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez.<\/p>\n
