Furthermore, it encourages tourism through hiking," emphasized Antonio Moya, Cieza's Councilor for Agriculture and Tourism.

The route's design took into account the idiosyncrasies and particularities of each municipality, while maintaining a common focus. The goal is also to respect the environment and native species, diversifying the rural economy and preventing their disappearance. Likewise, the route is equipped with appropriate QR code technological signage so pedestrians always know where they are.

"This is the start of a major project that the entire Local Action Group has been working on for many months to boost tourism and culture in the 12 municipalities linked by the Segura River. Beyond being a tourist route, 'Walking through the Vega' represents the achievement of uniting the 12 municipalities for their growth," said Patricia Fernández, president of the Local Action Group and mayor of Archena.

This route will represent a new opportunity for the city of Cieza, since, according to municipal sources, "it will attract tourists who come to the area to enjoy the waterwheels and other attractions, in addition to being an attraction for creating complete tourist packages to visit places in Cieza such as Medina Siyâsa, La Serreta, or Cueva del Arco, which will facilitate synergies and tourist traffic. It is evident that Cieza will continue to improve with these new offerings and infrastructure, which will also have a positive impact on the hospitality industry and commerce in general."

Source: Cieza City Council.

The rural tourist route will connect the municipalities of Cieza, Abarán, Blanca, Ricote, Ojós, Ulea, Villanueva, Archena, Lorquí, Ceutí, Alguazas, and Molina de Segura.

[18
