The inauguration will take place this coming Tuesday, January 24th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Siy\u00e2sa Museum.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The exhibition, which has previously been shown at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia (MAM), breaking all records for temporary exhibitions at the museum, is organized by the Ministry of the Presidency and Culture and has the collaboration of the University of Murcia.<\/p>\n

Ignacio Mart\u00edn-Lerma, a professor of prehistory at the University of Murcia, is the curator of this exhibition, along with Jo\u00e3o Zilh\u00e3o, a researcher at the University of Lisbon, also a specialist in the field; and Luis de Miquel Santed, curator of the Museums and Exhibitions Service of the Region of Murcia.<\/p>\n

This is a program that combines science and educational outreach in an accessible and entertaining way. During the tour, you can enjoy unique archaeological artifacts that perfectly depict the period in which Neanderthals roamed our region, with specially created illustrations, as well as a life-size reproduction of a Neanderthal torso.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, in addition to exploring their lifestyles, addresses such transcendental questions as how they lived, what they ate, and whether they were intelligent. The Arco Cave is one of the exhibition's focal points, featuring flint pieces found there during excavations led by Ignacio Mart\u00edn Lerma and Didac Rom\u00e1n, which were carved some 50,000 years ago by Neanderthals.<\/p>\n

A model of the cave is also on display, along with photographs and reconstructive paintings showing how the cave was used during the Neanderthal era.<\/p>\n
