La Fea Burgues\u00eda presents the first novel by the Murcian writer \u00c1ngeles G\u00f3mez Ortigosa in Cieza.<\/p>\n
The event will take place next Wednesday, February 1st, at 7:30 p.m. at the Atalaya Ateneo de la Villa Club, located at 53 Pablo Iglesias Street in Cieza. The author will be accompanied by Aurora Gil Boh\u00f3rquez, professor of Spanish Language and Literature.<\/p>\n
The Silence of the Women of My House is the story of a family in the first half of the 20th century, set in the orchards of Murcia. Jealousy, envy, and differences in interests and lifestyles lead to a progressive deterioration in the relationships of its members. A tragic event in 1941 causes a definitive fracture in a seemingly happy family. Years later, Amelia, one of the heirs, wishes to clarify the unknowns surrounding the history of her ancestors, secrets related to old grudges and the death of someone close to her.<\/p>\n
On an old family property, located in the orchards of Murcia, some descendants gather and, together, they will try to unravel these mysteries.<\/p>\n
A novel that can be read in one sitting and that is set in places as much ours as the orchard and its old mansions.<\/p>\n
M\u00aa \u00c1ngeles G\u00f3mez Ortigosa (Murcia, 1954), author of The Silence of the Women of My House, studied Medicine and trained in Pediatrics, dedicating her professional life to Pediatric Gastroenterology at the hospital in the city of Yecla until her retirement.<\/p>\n
She has been writing short stories and poetry since a very young age. She has published some poems in the literary magazine Monte Arab\u00ed (Yecla) and in the magazine of the College of Physicians of Murcia. She has co-authored the books Murcia a vista de haiku (2021) and La huerta en haikus (2022). This is her first novel.<\/p>\n
