Municipal sources report that, as a result of the 2019 DANA (National Flood Assessment), numerous modifications have been made to the maps published by the Segura River Basin Authority (Confederaci\u00f3n Hidrogr\u00e1fica del Segura) on flood-prone and at-risk areas. Furthermore, in recent years, the Authority has been increasingly demanding more effective measures to prevent flood damage.<\/p>\n
"It should be noted that, following the publication of the maps following the DANA (National Urban Development Plan), a risk of water runoff from the Los Grajos ravine and the Caba\u00f1iles ravine has become evident in our municipality." According to the Councilor for Planning, Antonio Ignacio Mart\u00ednez-Real, this risk would affect, as the aforementioned maps indicate, various sectors of developable land such as SUS-6, SUS-7, SUS-8, SUS-9, SUS-11, and also areas of urban land such as APE-11 and, to a lesser extent, APE-17. In short, a large area from the N-301 to the mouth of the Rambla into the river, passing through Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca Street.<\/p>\n
During the processing of the sectoral reports by the SUS-11 Compensation Board, everything indicated above has been made clear, with the Hydrographic Confederation having approved the measure consisting of the development of the aforementioned lagoon.<\/p>\n
For all these reasons, the Local Government Board has given the green light to begin the process of constructing the aforementioned lagoon, which would be located in the unused area of the wastewater treatment plant, thus ensuring the viability of the city's urban developments. The project has been estimated at \u20ac180,000, and its full completion is expected next year.<\/p>\n
Finally, the City Council will request the corresponding reports from the Segura River Basin Authority regarding the use of the reservoir waters, as the municipal government intends to use them for irrigation and agricultural purposes, thus also helping to mitigate the consequences of climate change and water scarcity. This would prevent flooding and make it feasible to continue the city's urban development, and would also provide a surplus of reservoir water that could be used for agricultural purposes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
