On Saturday, April 29, the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the management agreement between the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) and the Northern Vega del Segura Central Users Board for the maintenance, conservation, and operation of the Cieza I and Cieza II wells.<\/p>\n
The signing of this agreement, according to municipal sources, "serves to clearly and significantly optimize our municipality's water concessions and resources, guaranteeing water for our fields, maintaining the economic development of our town, and consequently, employment."<\/p>\n
The allocation of these wells will be for four years, extendable for another four years, to uses owned by Irrigation Communities of the Central Board registered in the Public Water Registry, in accordance with the authorizations granted by the CHS and for the specified periods.<\/p>\n
Its operation will be carried out under instructions issued by the CHS, using groundwater flows. This will replace existing wells belonging to the Irrigation Communities of the Central Board and guarantee the availability of their resources registered in the Public Water Registry. For volumetric control of this water, the wells will be equipped with volumetric meters approved and sealed by the River Guard.<\/p>\n
The Central Users' Board of the Northern Vega del Segura, strictly complying with the instructions of the CHS, is authorized to initiate irrigation boreholes, in accordance with the provisions of the current Hydrological Plan of the Segura River Basin District, and with prior authorization from the CHS, as well as in situations of water deficit, in the irrigable areas represented therein.<\/p>\n
For the proper implementation of this agreement, a Monitoring Committee will be established, composed of a representative of the Segura River Hydrographic Confederation and a representative of the Northern Vega del Segura Water Users' Board. This committee will be responsible for monitoring, supervising, and overseeing the implementation of this agreement and the commitments assumed.<\/p>\n
