This Thursday, the Councilor for Youth, Cristo Manuel Lucas, presented a youth rafting activity as part of the "Activate Your Leisure Time" plan. The councilor was accompanied by the Councilor for Disability, Amparo Pino, and the Director General of Youth, Jos\u00e9 Manuel L\u00f3pez.<\/p>\n
The event, which was originally scheduled to take place only this Saturday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will now have an additional day, July 15, due to the great interest it has generated in Cieza and other towns and the number of registrations (approximately 130), with the deadline still open this Friday, June 30.<\/p>\n
The recreational activity, open especially to young people with disabilities, will depart from the La Era pier, and each boat will be staffed by a monitor specializing in the disability of its occupants.<\/p>\n
It is organized by the Department of Youth, together with the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the IMAS (Spanish Institute of Social Development), and funded by the General Directorates of Youth and Disability.<\/p>\n
Lucas explained that this is a free youth rafting activity for young people and people with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 35 who live in the Region of Murcia. The Youth Minister believes it is "a very good activity because it allows people with disabilities to participate, and it highlights the wonderful natural environment of the Segura River in Cieza. It's the type of inclusive activities we would like to continue promoting to attract the attention of the entire Region, with the goal of making the benefits of our municipality increasingly known."<\/p>\n
For the municipal head of Disability, this activity represents "an important opportunity for young people from Cieza and other towns with some degree of disability to discover our natural treasures while enjoying, in an inclusive way, a day of fun and tourism." Amparo Pino thanked the General Directorates of Youth and Disability for the initiative and expressed the hope that "this event will continue throughout the year with activities on various topics, given the high demand we have from disability groups in our city."<\/p>\n
Finally, the Director General of Youth recalled that the Directorates General for Youth and for People with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), have launched this program of inclusive leisure and free-time activities for adolescents in various localities under the heading "Activate Your Leisure Time." To date, according to L\u00f3pez, 18 activities have been held in the Region with the participation of more than 600 young people with and without disabilities, "which demonstrates the success of this pioneering program in the Region of Murcia and throughout Spain due to the synergies generated by the collaboration of Youth, Disability, and CERMI. The objectives are the exchange of experiences, coexistence, and, in short, interaction between young people with and without disabilities."<\/p>\n
