At this time, a ridge located east of the Peninsula, off the coast of North Africa, is allowing a very warm, dry air mass of Saharan origin to enter the Mediterranean, which is not currently affecting our territory.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In the coming days, the westward movement of this ridge is expected to bring the very warm air mass closer to the east and south of the peninsula, as well as to the Balearic Islands. This, combined with the stability and high sunshine typical of the season, will lead to an episode of very high temperatures starting on Sunday the 9th and especially during the next week.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The extent of the affected area is still uncertain: at this time, the areas most likely to experience the very high temperatures are the southern and southeastern thirds of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, although it is not ruled out that the storm could spread to parts of the central Iberian Peninsula and the Ebro Valley.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Temperatures will rise over the next few days, and on Sunday they are likely to reach 40\u00b0C locally in the Guadalquivir Valley and parts of eastern Andalusia and the southern plateau, and 36\u00b0C in inland areas of the Balearic Islands and the Ebro Valley.<\/div>\n

Starting Monday, temperatures are likely to exceed 38\u00b0C across the board, and locally 40\u00b0C, in the southeastern part of the peninsula and parts of the Ebro Valley. In parts of the Guadalquivir Valley, temperatures could exceed 42\u00b0C as early as today.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In inland areas of the Balearic Islands, temperatures may also exceed 38\u00b0C.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Temperatures are likely to remain very high in the coming days, even rising further on Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th. The possibility of temperatures reaching 44\u00b0C in parts of the Guadalquivir Valley is not ruled out.<\/div>\n

Minimum temperatures will also be very high during the episode, with tropical nights exceeding 20\u00b0C, and even locally exceeding 25\u00b0C, in the southeastern half of the peninsula, especially in the southeastern third, and in the Balearic Islands.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
