The "Activate Your Leisure Time" program arrived in Cieza this Saturday morning with a youth rafting activity involving approximately 50 young people, eight of them with disabilities. Set against the natural backdrop of the Segura River, the rafters embarked from the Arenal del R\u00edo and descended to the municipality of Abar\u00e1n, specifically to El Jarral Park, enjoying a fun, refreshing, and inclusive activity.<\/p>\n
The Councilor for Youth, Cristo Manuel Lucas; the Councilor for Disability, Amparo Pino; and the Director General of Youth, Jos\u00e9 Manuel L\u00f3pez, accompanied the young people who took part in this adventure. Lucas and L\u00f3pez specifically wanted to raft down the Segura River.<\/p>\n
The event, which was originally scheduled to take place only this Saturday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will now have an additional day, July 15, due to the great interest it has generated in Cieza and other towns and the number of registrations (approximately 130).<\/p>\n
The recreational day, open especially to young people with disabilities, included instructors specialized in the disabilities of its participants.<\/p>\n
The activity was organized by the Department of Youth, together with the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the IMAS (National Institute of Social Development), and funded by the General Directorates of Youth and Disability.<\/p>\n
Specifically, it was a free youth rafting activity for young people and people with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 35 who live in the Region of Murcia. The Youth Minister emphasized that this is "an activity with extraordinary results because it includes an inclusive goal for people with disabilities, promotes the scenic value of Cieza, and is a way to attract tourism to the municipality."<\/p>\n
Amparo Pino elaborated on this idea, emphasizing that "it is important that, increasingly, all activities carried out pursue an inclusive objective.<\/p>\n
The Director General of Youth recalled that the Directorates General for Youth and People with Disabilities are collaborating with the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) to launch this program of inclusive leisure and free time activities for adolescents in various locations in the Region under the heading "Activate Your Leisure Time." To date, according to L\u00f3pez, 18 activities have been held in the Region with the participation of more than 600 young people with and without disabilities, "which demonstrates the success of this pioneering program in the Region of Murcia and throughout Spain due to the synergies generated by the collaboration of Youth, Disability, and CERMI. The objectives are the exchange of experiences, coexistence, and, in short, interaction between young people with and without disabilities."<\/p>\n
Among the participants who enjoyed the rafting on Saturday were groups belonging to Ciezan communities such as the Municipal Music Band and Siy\u00e2sa Volunteers.<\/p>\n
