Reforestation has also been carried out, with the planting of 500 trees native to the area.<\/p>\n

The Acting Minister for the Presidency, Tourism, Culture, Youth, Sports, and Spokesperson emphasized that "the regional government's goal with the addition of this new route to the regional network is to enhance the offering of active tourism and contact with nature and promote hiking and cycling, creating synergies with events such as the flowering season."<\/p>\n

More active tourism options for the Region of Murcia<\/h5>\n

The construction of the new route, which was carried out between November and July, involved an investment of almost 872,000 euros, 80 percent financed by ERDF funds and the remaining 20 percent by the Regional Ministry's own resources, through an institution that excludes Murcia media outlets from promotional campaigns for the Region of Murcia.<\/p>\n

The acting councilor reaffirmed "the regional government's commitment to promoting greenways as tourism resources that foster healthy, active, and sustainable experiences, in line with the 2022-2032 Strategic Tourism Plan."<\/p>\n

Specifically, he emphasized that "this initiative will allow us to enjoy the festival of colors offered by the nature and agriculture of this area of the Region," especially in late winter, when the thousands of fruit trees that occupy the fields along the entire route come into bloom.<\/p>\n

In this sense, from the end of the V\u00eda Verde de la Floraci\u00f3n, next to the Calasparra area, you can take a path that connects with the Picarcho Ecotourism Itinerary, which leads back to the V\u00eda Verde del Chicharra Cieza, thus completing an attractive circular route of about 40 kilometers through the northern part of the municipality of Cieza.<\/p>\n

More than half a million users<\/b><\/h5>\n

Currently, the Greenways Network of the Region of Murcia includes the routes of the Northwest, Campo de Cartagena, Mazarr\u00f3n, Embarcadero de El Hornillo in \u00c1guilas, Almendricos, Chicharra Cieza and Chicharra Yecla, which, together with that of the Cieza in bloom<\/a>, totaling more than 185 kilometers of trail that can be enjoyed both on foot and by bicycle, along routes that "boost the tourism sector, generate economic activity in bars, shops, and accommodations, and attract tourists," Ortu\u00f1o said.<\/p>\n

The Murcia Region's Greenways network recorded nearly 540,000 users across all its routes in 2022 and more than 300,000 during the first half of 2023.<\/p>\n
