The 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Center in the Murcia Region received several calls starting at 10:02 a.m. reporting a forest fire on the El Menj\u00fa estate, on the right bank of the Segura River in the municipality of Cieza.<\/p>\n

The caller reports that there is a single fire, and that the area is windy.<\/p>\n

Cieza local police confirm the need for air personnel and report strong winds in the area and danger to homes.<\/p>\n

They report that access is difficult, and rural trucks are requested to access the fire zone.<\/p>\n

Civil Guard sends units.<\/p>\n

The Regional Consortium's Fire Coordinator has mobilized personnel from the Cieza regional fire station, a total of five firefighters, a sergeant, and three vehicles (a heavy-duty truck, a heavy-duty tanker, and a command unit) who are currently working in the fire area.<\/p>\n

Police report the need for aerial resources, confirmed by the Blanca environmental officer.<\/p>\n

First, the helicopter of the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergencies based in La Pila is mobilized: pilot, firefighting technician, environmental agent, and helicopter brigade.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, given the existing risk, the KAMOV helicopter based in La Alberquilla, belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, was mobilized.<\/p>\n

The helicopter from the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergencies based in Alcantarilla is also deployed: pilot, mechanic, firefighting technician, environmental agent, and helicopter brigade.<\/p>\n

A second fire brigade from the Cieza regional fire station is mobilized, with a total of three firefighters and a heavy-duty truck.<\/p>\n

The helicopter based in San Javier is mobilized to coordinate the aerial resources working in the area.<\/p>\n

The Directorate General for the Natural Environment has mobilized three forestry brigades, each commanded by their respective environmental agents and the regional chief for the area.<\/p>\n

The mobilized brigades are Blanca, Cieza and Calasparra with a total of 18 people and the environmental agents in command (3) and 1 regional chief.<\/p>\n

Firefighters are protecting the home located in the El Menj\u00fa area.<\/p>\n

UME personnel, as well as the helicopter based in Zarcilla de Ramos, have been alerted.<\/p>\n

At 12:10 p.m., the fire management team declared the fire stabilized.<\/p>\n

Two people (mother and son) were treated while rafting down the river in Cieza. The 2-year-old son was showing symptoms of smoke inhalation and was treated on-site without the need for medical transport.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
