Women who are swept away from the lives of all those who love them. By taking their lives away, they are also taking away the moments they will never be able to experience with their loved ones, the dreams they will never fulfill, or the laughter they will never enjoy. Their path is cut short by the aggressors and murderers who, in most cases, are their partners or ex-partners.”

She added that "for each of the fatalities and for all the women around the world who have suffered and continue to suffer physical, sexual, and psychological abuse at the hands of men, the Cieza City Council, especially remembering Hanane and her family this year, is launching a major campaign with various awareness-raising actions of great social impact to raise awareness and remind everyone of the importance of fighting this social scourge until it is eradicated."

The program begins with the "Whoever loves you well..." campaign. Launched last year, the program's primary objective is to disseminate information on actions and resources for various cases of gender-based violence. It begins with an urban exhibition on the corner of the convent from November 2nd to December 2nd. Campaign materials will also be distributed at the weekly market on the 22nd. There will also be a self-defense workshop for women led by the KIAI School on November 10th, 17th, and 24th, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Registration is available at the Women's Department and at the KIAI School.

The highlight of the program will come on November 25th, with two innovative awareness-raising events, with a significant social impact. These events will seek to sensitize the residents of Cieza to the need to take a stand for the eradication of this social scourge, supporting its victims, and holding the now traditional march against gender-based violence and in support of women victims, including the reading of the institutional manifesto and a concert.

Another campaign included in the program is called "Behind Closed Doors," which aims to show citizens the tragedy of gender-based violence and the fear victims have of speaking out. "In most cases, the aggressors silence them, destroying their self-esteem through beatings, insults, and humiliation. Unfortunately, those around them, in many cases, are unaware of this situation or look the other way. Furthermore, there is a segment of society that judges them or doesn't believe them, with only institutions acting as the main agents of aid and raising awareness about this problem."

Different activities scheduled on the street

This street marketing campaign consists of placing a life-size purple awareness-raising door that opens on both sides, equipped with speakers, and a powerful message inside. This door will be accompanied by a voiceover simulating a scene of gender-based violence, as an example of what can happen inside a home where an assault is taking place. In addition, the campaign will feature an impact officer who will assist and explain to citizens how to react or what to do in cases of gender-based violence. This is intended to draw the attention of people passing by the area, make them stop and consider what is happening, leaving no one indifferent. "Do you hear it? I suffer it every day!" This is the appeal that victims make to their neighbors to seek their support, to gain the involvement and complicity of all citizens, and to help them understand that, in cases of gender-based violence, their action is of vital importance and that it is within their power to put an end to the situation by reporting it.

"This is a way to raise awareness among the people who live in the municipality of the need not to look the other way, but to take a stand by supporting victims so they can speak out and report their actions, and to be alert to any signs of violence we perceive in our neighborhood." This campaign will take place on the morning of the 25th in Plaza de España, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and in the afternoon at Esquina del Convento, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Another campaign added to the program comes under the slogan "The Steps They Will Not Take," in which a striking scene will be shown to all Ciezans on the street. Pairs of women's shoes will be displayed, representing each of the victims who have been murdered in 2023, symbolizing the steps they will never take and the life they will no longer be able to live, "among them our neighbor Hanane Marzak, because her attackers have taken her away. Therefore, each pair of shoes will bear the names of the women murdered in Spain, to pay tribute to each of the victims, because they deserve to be remembered."

The aim is to raise awareness among the citizens of Cieza about gender-based violence in a completely different way, impacting and resonating with the public; to show support for the victims and rejection of the aggressors; to raise awareness, educate, and educate the population that abuse, control, and humiliation are not forms of love; and to position the City Council as an entity involved in the eradication of sexist behavior and violence. The event will take place in Plaza de España from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

March against gender violence

As in previous years, the event will begin at 7 p.m. on Paseo Antonio Salas and end in Plaza de España, where Mayor Tomás Rubio will read the institutional manifesto. The event will conclude with a tribute concert for the victims of gender-based violence by a string trio from the Cieza Youth Orchestra.

“Finally, I would like to emphasize the public responsibility of the institutions, individuals, and groups of Cieza for equality and social justice, reaffirming the commitment of the local government team, led by Mayor Tomás Rubio, to the fight against gender-based violence. I would not like to end my speech without once again remembering all the victims of gender-based violence in our town, especially Hanane Marzak and her family, to whom we express our deepest condolences,” Amparo Pino concluded.

The program begins with the "Whoever loves you well..." campaign.
