Cieza, represented by Mayor Tom\u00e1s Rubio and Councilor for Education Mar\u00eda Turp\u00edn, participated in an institutional event held at the Ministry of Social Policy, Families and Equality, where this commitment was formalized.<\/p>\n<p>Cieza is part of the Child Friendly Cities initiative, led by UNICEF, which aims to improve the well-being of children by promoting local policies that guarantee the full development of children and adolescents, with a focus on children&#039;s rights, equity, participation and coordination.<\/p>\n<h5>Cieza Child Friendly City<\/h5>\n<p>Our mayor has shown his commitment to the Child Friendly Cities initiative. Tom\u00e1s Rubio explained that \u201cwe must put children at the heart of our policies and promote their active participation in society. We must be attentive to children and pay attention to the most vulnerable families in our society,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The regional government has allocated over \u20ac83 million through 2027 for the development of child care and protection programs. The Community of Madrid is renewing its commitment to collaborating with UNICEF to guarantee the protection of children&#039;s rights in the Region through programs that improve their quality of life and ensure a childhood free from discrimination and respect. The agreement also includes promoting the active participation of children and adolescents in society.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Social Policy, Families and Equality, Conchita Ruiz, has signed the collaboration agreement with the president of Unicef Region of Murcia, Amparo Marzal, and stressed that \u201cprotecting children is one of the priorities of the regional government, mainly because children are holders of their own rights and because if we protect them today, we are also protecting the adults of tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<h5>Child-Friendly Villages<\/h5>\n<p>The mayors and representatives of the Child Friendly Cities of the Region of Murcia, such as Alcantarilla, Beniel, Bullas, Calasparra, Campos del R\u00edo, Cartagena, Ceut\u00ed, Cieza, Santomera, Lorqu\u00ed, Mula, San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, were present at the institutional event where the head of Social Policy stressed that &quot;it is important that we all pull in the same direction so that no child in the Region grows up in a vulnerable environment.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, the councilor highlighted that the regional government has allocated \u201cmore than 83 million euros from 2022 to 2027 for the development of child care and protection programs aimed at addressing risk situations and deinstitutionalizing the protection of these minors so that they grow up healthy and in a stable family environment, since this environment contributes to enhancing their integral development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the programs developed, the implementation, starting in January of next year, of the Regional Family Support Services stands out, with the aim of carrying out preventive work to detect situations of vulnerability and guarantee comprehensive care for children and adolescents.<\/p>\n<h5>More than 1,200 minors under guardianship<\/h5>\n<p>In addition, the Community has 1,200 minors under its guardianship and operates 30 residential care homes to provide a comfortable place to live for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, addressing their biological, emotional, social, psychological, and educational needs. Currently, 452 children and adolescents are living in these care homes under the supervision of a multidisciplinary and specialized team, and efforts are underway to facilitate their subsequent family, social, and employment integration.
