Ignacio Mart\u00edn Lerma, from the University of Murcia, and D\u00eddac Roman Monroig, from the Universitat Jaume I, presented this Tuesday at the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid one of the most impressive archaeological, geological, and historical discoveries of recent years: the Cueva del Arco, located in Cieza.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Mayor Tom\u00e1s Rubio and Councilor for Culture and Historical Heritage, Mar\u00eda Turp\u00edn.<\/p>\n
Discoveries made in recent years are making the southeast a benchmark for the study of the Paleolithic. The Cueva del Arco, located in the Almadenes Canyon (Cieza), boasts one of the most outstanding sequences for understanding the Middle and Upper Paleolithic in the Region of Murcia. Furthermore, it is one of the few sites in the southeast that brings together rock art and occupations from these periods. Without a doubt, this is a site of great scientific interest and has generated a significant social impact.<\/p>\n
