The 2024\/25 environmental education program of the Department of Environment
\nEnvironment is coming to an end and, among the last activities, there is
\nCarrying out together with Aguas de Cieza the activity 'Reconnecting with our
\nparks and gardens', in which almost all the centers are participating
\neducational activities in the town. This is an activity organized with the objective
\nto foster emotional connection and citizen engagement with the
\nurban green spaces of the municipality.<\/p>\n
\u201cChildren demand quality green spaces, but it is not just a matter of
\ndemand, but children being in contact with nature is a
\nfundamental issue for their comprehensive development, both physical and emotional
\nand cognitive. Nature offers countless opportunities to learn,
\nexperience and strengthen health and well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n
The activity is taking place in several representative parks and roads of
\nthe city, consisting of workshops, guided tours, participatory dynamics and
\neducational activities, focused on valuing local biodiversity, discovering
\nthe benefits of urban trees and promote a responsible attitude towards
\nthe natural environment.<\/p>\n
This initiative is part of the local biodiversity strategy that seeks
\nimprove human well-being, within the framework of the Cieza Biof\u00edlica project.
\nBased on the lessons learned in the Urbact-BiodiverCity project,
\nIt seeks to strengthen the bond between people and nature, promoting a culture of caring for public spaces, environmental health and participation.
\nactive participation of citizens, in this case the youngest.<\/p>\n
During the days in which students from the schools of
\ninfant and primary school of the municipality, was highlighted by the Service workers
\nof Parks and Gardens the importance of caring for parks and green areas
\nnot only as leisure areas, but also as key allies to mitigate the
\neffects of climate change, improve air quality, reduce noise
\nurban and promote the physical and mental health of the population. This need to
\nreconnection will benefit from the renaturalization of the schoolyard
\nCEIP Cristo del Consuelo, as a pilot project within the LIFE project-
\nGreenMe5, whose tender will be published shortly.<\/p>\n
