The exhibition Free Women (1936-1939). Precursors of a New World arrives in Cieza.
\n(Murcia). It will be open to visitors until June 30th, at the Ateneo-Atalaya Club in the town of

This exhibition seeks to recover the forgotten history of the Mujeres Libres organization, a
\nwomen's group that emerged within the libertarian movement during the year 1936, whose
\npurpose was to unite working-class women to fight for their emancipation.<\/p>\n
With this objective, Mujeres Libres developed a vast program dedicated to raising awareness and raising the
\nwomen's culture through education and job training; they intended to do so
\novercome what they called the triple slavery of working women: that of their ignorance and that derived from
\ndue to her status as a woman and a worker.<\/p>\n
To achieve this, they considered that they had to undertake a double struggle: on the one hand, to end
\nwith the economic and social system that exploited them, along with their companions, in order to
\nestablish a society based on Libertarian Communism, and, on the other hand, end its own
\nexploitation as women.<\/p>\n
Eight decades after the creation of this women's organization, the Foundation of
\nLibertarian Studies Anselmo Lorenzo through this traveling exhibition, tries to rescue
\nthese women from oblivion by giving them the recognition they deserve, so that their struggle may serve as
\nexperience and learning to the current feminist movement.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is made up of 16 panels, as well as sound and audiovisual materials, with
\ninformation on the creation and development of the organization, its demands and areas of
\nperformance, his approaches to equality, education, work, sexuality and participation
\nactive that he developed to win the war against fascism.<\/p>\n
To this day, the advanced nature of its approaches and actions remains a benchmark in which
\nsee ourselves reflected, it being our duty to maintain that legacy so that it serves as a basis for the
