The Community will offer 506 places for secondary school entrance exams in 2018 and 35 for the Music and Performing Arts teaching staff, as negotiated by the Education Sectoral Board, chaired by the Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, Adela Mart\u00ednez-Cach\u00e1.<\/p>\n
Regional Minister Adela Mart\u00ednez-Cach\u00e1 described the public employment offer as "historic" and emphasized "the regional government's commitment to a Multi-Year Competition Plan that exceeds 3,000 positions for the next four calls." In this regard, she emphasized that "secondary education hasn't had such a broad offering for more than seven years, specifically since 2010."<\/p>\n
Mart\u00ednez-Cach\u00e1 explained that "with these 506 places, the temporary employment rate in secondary schools will be reduced to 4 percent, which will place us among the lowest in Spain."<\/p>\n
For their part, the trade unions voted against the offer, despite positively assessing it. However, the offer will remain in place for secondary school, and the following specialties will be offered: Spanish Language and Literature, Geography and History, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, English, Educational Guidance, Economics, Industrial Analysis and Chemistry, Personal Image Consulting and Processes, and Commercial Organization and Management. Specifically, 136 positions will be in English, 60 in Physics and Chemistry, 56 in Geography and History, 41 in Spanish Language and Literature, 39 in Mathematics, and 31 in Educational Guidance, among others.<\/p>\n
For the vocational training technical teaching staff, five certifications have been approved for Cooking and Pastry, two for Aesthetics, two for Carpentry and Furniture Manufacturing and Installation, two for Laboratory, 18 for Vehicle Maintenance, three for Machining and Machine Maintenance, 11 for Hairdressing, 12 for Commercial Processes, two for Graphic Arts Production, 30 for Administrative Management Processes, 10 for Community Services, and five for Restaurant Services, among others.<\/p>\n
Mart\u00ednez-Cach\u00e1 recalled that last year the Region was one of the first communities to reach an agreement within the Education Sectoral Roundtable on interim teachers and emphasized that "the regional government's goal is to hold competitive examinations every year to promote the stabilization of teaching staff and educational quality."<\/p>\n
Competitive examinations for professors of music and performing arts<\/strong><\/p>\n On the other hand, the Sectoral Board, with the vote in favor of the union organizations, approved the offer of 35 positions in 26 specialties for Professors of Music and Performing Arts, which will be announced in 2017 and are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2018. Mart\u00ednez-Cach\u00e1 emphasized that "this is the first time in the history of the Region that competitions for the body of Professors of Music and Performing Arts have been announced" and that "for the regional government, ensuring the future of higher music education is a priority."<\/p>\n This measure will help provide job stability at the Manuel Massotti Littel Conservatory of Music, the only institution in the Region that offers this type of education.
