The local government announces that next week it will begin a new project to eliminate architectural barriers, install traffic lights with audible signals, repair part of the sidewalk on Gran V\u00eda, and carry out the long-awaited renovation of Pr\u00edncipe de Asturias Park.<\/p>\n
The elimination of architectural barriers approved in the 2017 participatory budget will include adapting 100 new pedestrian crossings to accessibility regulations, reorganizing and correcting any level differences that make it difficult for people with reduced mobility for any reason.<\/p>\n
Likewise, traffic light control will be implemented at six intersections in the municipality using audible signals for people with visual impairments, as well as reorganizing these intersections through various measures.<\/p>\n
For its part, the arrangement of the sidewalk area of the Gran V\u00eda between Camino de La Estaci\u00f3n and Camino de la Fuente, proceeding to the replacement of the current slabs with precast concrete ones and the adaptation of the zebra crossings to the accessibility regulations.<\/p>\n
Finally, work will be done in the Pr\u00edncipe de Asturias Park with the installation of sports equipment, children's play areas, new swings adapted for users with disabilities, and the repair and renovation of seats, benches, and part of the park's fencing.<\/p>\n
City Council sources indicate that "good municipal management has led to cost savings of \u20ac48,000, given that of the total budgeted cost (\u20ac337,000), these works will cost approximately \u20ac289,000, i.e., a saving of \u20ac161,000 compared to the estimated costs."<\/p>\n
These works are in addition to the previously awarded works for the repair of various rural roads, paving on Miguel de Unamuno and Fernando III El Santo streets, Hermanos Templado and Pablo Iglesias, the rehabilitation of the San Jos\u00e9 Obrero roundabouts, the repair of Calvario Street, the complete repair of the sidewalk of the Paseo de Ronda at the height of the Argaz bridge, the adaptation of the weight room in the athletics track, the paving of Cuesta de la Villa and Cuesta del R\u00edo, and the comprehensive repair of the Vereda de Morcillo (from the Hospital to IES Los Albares), many of which are already being completed.<\/p>\n
