The residents of this Cieza district will celebrate the festivities on May 11, 12, and 13 in honor of their patron saint, de facto, though not de jure. The festivities will allow us to enjoy a host of activities for all ages. The festivities feature music, sports, gastronomy, and popular games, and comprise a comprehensive cultural and leisure program that combines traditional and modern elements.

The Ascoy Festival is back. And this year, more than ever, it's designed for community gatherings and coexistence. It's designed to unite the various communities that comprise it, which, at their core, are one. In this way, the residents of Ascoy want to show their most festive and welcoming side, celebrating their patron saint and displaying their best hospitality, aware that these days are a unique occasion, an ideal time, to strengthen ties and foster coexistence.

It's no exaggeration to say that these festivals are already "traditional," as they have been celebrated for decades. With some irregularity, it's true, but always with the same enthusiasm and dedication. The festivals of the 1970s are now a time of history, when on warm May nights, in addition to the residents of the "town," hundreds of Ciezans would come together to enjoy the dancing and the good atmosphere. Also unforgettable are the good times shared on the pine grove terrace, between activities, savoring a good beer and delicious tapas.

Delicacies that don't fall from the sky, but are selflessly and lovingly prepared by the women of the association, and generously served at the bar or on the tables by groups of volunteers, with the utmost care. Truth be told, many hours are dedicated to preparing all these activities. And a great deal of effort goes into organizing them. But these hours and days of work don't hurt because there's never a lack of enthusiasm and altruism, as if these festivities were experienced every year as if for the first time.

And among so many joyful moments of sharing, embracing, and keeping our defining traditions alive, we always like to leave some space for remembrance and nostalgia. To remember those neighbors who were essential pillars of these festivities, those who started them, promoted them, gave their all to bring them forward, and who sadly are no longer with us.

These holidays are undoubtedly also the best time to recognize the work of neighborhood associations and highlight their daily work to "build the neighborhood and the city," as well as to improve the quality of life of their residents. They are also an excellent opportunity to showcase who we are and what we stand for.

That's why we want to enjoy some unforgettable days this year again: having fun while being committed to our community; having a good time while advocating for improved conditions in the neighborhood, always offering our collaboration, as a neighborhood collective, to achieve this goal for the benefit of everyone.

From here, we want to, once again this year, invite the people of Cieza to participate and actively enjoy these festivities, which have become an essential part of the town of Cieza.

Because paraphrasing Saramago: “If we manage to make Ascoy and Cieza better every day, it will only be because of us and with us.”

Once again this year, the Ascoy Festival of San Isidro, the Farmer, is here.
