On April 21, the Cieza Red Cross hosted the 4th Conference on Care for Vulnerable People in Settlements and the Homeless, which has been held regionally for the past four years.<\/p>\n
It was a meeting between the local Red Cross assemblies of Cartagena, Mazarr\u00f3n, Lorca, and Cieza. These organizations offer programs aimed at this group. A group that finds itself homeless or in substandard housing, under extremely vulnerable conditions, with its fundamental rights and physiological needs violated. It is a group that is part of society, yet is perceived as invisible even though it isn't.<\/p>\n
Work experiences were shared with the team of volunteers and technicians who make street performances, care\/reception, and meeting needs possible. Cristina Garc\u00eda-Vaso Garc\u00eda, Councilor for Social Services for the Cieza City Council, was also present, along with Caritas Cieza and the Piedras Vivas Association. Both have also done extensive work with settlements and homeless people, who were able to share their perspectives and approach.<\/p>\n
We also had the pleasure of having users of each assembly's programs come forward to voluntarily share their life stories, with the emotion and recognition that this brings. One of these people has managed to escape homelessness, and this is what motivates us to continue fighting and collaborating.
