The Cieza municipal government reports in a statement that it continues working and seeking different alternatives for the construction of the Ascoy collector to solve the problem of bad smells that has been suffered for a decade.<\/p>\n
The City Council has secured the collaboration and involvement of the company Aguas de Cieza SA to carry out a section of the aforementioned collector, specifically the replacement of a section and the improvement and installation of sewerage at the junction of the B-19 road with the urban area.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, sources from the local government criticize in the statement that \u201cthe Autonomous Community has traditionally shirked its obligations, even going so far as to vote against the construction of the sewer line in the Regional Assembly. However, after numerous efforts by the municipal government, we are very close to securing an additional \u20ac260,000 investment from the Regional Administration for another section, the tendering process for which could begin in September.\u201d<\/p>\n
The City Council states that \u201cwe must remember that the previous PP government carried out a project that has not solved the problem, as it did not invest all the subsidy obtained for this infrastructure. This resulted in an apparent reduction in the project's cost, which was not real, since, in the end, it has not served to resolve the issue. Since the current government took office, we have worked tirelessly to find solutions, resulting in the drafting of projects with different alternatives, involving Aguas de Cieza, SA, and demanding that the Region of Murcia fulfill its commitments. The current Cieza administration remains responsible for resolving the problem should the Region ultimately fail to meet its obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n
For all these reasons, a meeting was convened this Thursday with the residents' associations most affected by the bad smells that the sewer has been causing over the years. The mayor, Pascual Lucas, as well as the councilor for Services, Francisco Saor\u00edn, and the councilor for Economic Development, Antonio Moya, attended the meeting with the aim of informing all those affected about the latest progress, "and most importantly, that, fortunately, we are now closer than ever to eradicating the bad smells once and for all," the government emphasized.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
