Last week, the Cieza City Council organized the first peer review meeting of the E-MOB project, part of the Interreg Europe program co-financed by the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund). This initial meeting, originally planned as an in-person event, was ultimately held remotely via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants included partners from Hungary, Romania, Greece, Germany, Austria, Croatia, and France. The meeting aimed to share best practices from the region and discuss key aspects for promoting electric mobility in municipalities.<\/p>\n
During the event, two regional best practices were presented: the 'Share a Bike' system from the Murcia City Council, and the case of the park and garden maintenance service, also from the city of Murcia. This latter service, recently awarded, has led to a significant addition of electric vehicles to the fleet used for city services and is provided by the companies STV Gesti\u00f3n, SL and Act\u00faa Servicios y Medio Ambiente SL. One of the objectives of these workshops is to provide participants with firsthand knowledge of the best practices presented. In this case, the Cieza City Council overcame this limitation by producing videos filmed at their own facilities and explained by the service managers.<\/p>\n
During the debate, possibilities and opportunities for improving electric mobility in cities were highlighted, such as the integration of electric charging points, the need for government incentives for their establishment, and the incorporation of electric bicycles and scooters into mobility policies. Participants emphasized the importance of raising awareness and disseminating information to the public, which is key to a successful transition to electric mobility.<\/p>\n
In addition, three students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Vorarlberg, Austria, a project partner with over 10 years of experience in this field, presented best practices in electric mobility from Austria and their potential adaptation to Cieza.
