In\u00e9s Ruiz Mart\u00ednez, a 6th-grade student at the San Jos\u00e9 Obrero Primary School in Cieza, will represent the Region of Murcia before King Felipe VI at the audience he will hold for the winners of the 39th edition of the school competition "What is a King for You?", sponsored by the Spanish Institutional Foundation (FIES) and the Orange Foundation.<\/p>\n

At the audience that King Felipe will hold with the winning students, this student from Cieza, accompanied by her teacher, M\u00aa \u00c1ngeles Salmer\u00f3n, will be able to show the monarch her work, a craft in which she represents the king as a gardener "sower of values."<\/p>\n

As announced in recent months, given the current health emergency, which advises against holding exhibitions to present the winning entries in each region, the competition's sponsors have opted to publish a series of videos in conjunction with the corresponding Education Departments. The videos feature the announcement of the winners in each region, and a virtual exhibition of the finalist entries can also be viewed. All of the finalists will be received in audience by His Majesty King Felipe when the health situation permits.<\/p>\n

In the video corresponding to the competition in Murcia, M\u00aa de la Esperanza Moreno Revent\u00f3s, Minister of Education and Culture, along with Rafael Guardans Camb\u00f3, President of the Spanish Institutional Foundation, and Armando L\u00f3pez Ben\u00edtez, institutional representative of Orange, explain the purpose of the competition and give way to the virtual exhibition of the 40 finalist projects in the Murcia region.<\/p>\n

Next, Councilor M\u00aa de la Esperanza Moreno read the jury's report, announcing In\u00e9s Ruiz as the schoolgirl who will represent the region before King Felipe. At the ceremony, this student from Cieza will have the opportunity to meet King Felipe and show him her work: a charming craft in which she represents the king as a gardener "sower of values," a task that, as the student herself explains, she firmly teaches to Princess Leonor, also personified in her work. "Values as important as solidarity, honesty, empathy, and tolerance must ensure that everyone in our country has the same opportunities. That's why it's so important to continue caring for this very special garden, whose fruits will serve to achieve unity and respect," adds In\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

During the audience with the Monarch, the 20 winners of the "What is a King for You?" competition from across Spain will showcase the works they won in regional competitions in their respective autonomous communities or cities, as well as in the national Special Education category. Once again, these young artists, advised by their teachers and tutors in the creation of their works, will demonstrate their affinity and sympathy for the institution through their creativity.<\/p>\n

After 39 editions, the "What is a King to You?" contest has become a must-attend event in the educational programs of Spanish schools. This time, a total of 1,068 students from the Region of Murcia, from 142 schools in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades of primary school, from 1st and 2nd years of secondary school, and from special education students up to 18 years of age, participated.<\/p>\n
