The Padre Salmer\u00f3n Municipal Library will be holding its Library Day celebrations on Friday, October 22nd, instead of the official date of the following Sunday, according to sources at the Cieza City Council.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The initiative arose, in remembrance of the destruction of the Sarajevo Library in 1992 during the Balkan conflict, with a proposal from the Spanish Association of Friends of Children&#039;s and Young Adult Books that was supported by the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The proposal was created to convey to the public the importance of the library as a meeting place for readers of all ages with culture and as an instrument for improving education and human coexistence.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This year&#039;s celebration is varied, with activities for both children and adults, and also includes a charitable component: a book sale to benefit the Piedras Vivas Association. The program also features art with the opening of an exhibition.
