XI Climb to the Portazgo Floración de Cieza 2020

The Race will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2020, with the start at 9:00 a.m. for race A, at 9:15 a.m. for race B, and at 9:30 a.m. for race C, from the Era football field in Cieza (Murcia), where the finish line will also be located.

REGULATION

In this eleventh edition of the “Subida al Portazgo” 2020, the race will be held Regional Mountain Racing League of the WFRM 2020. 

The Race will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2020, with the start at 9:00 a.m. for race A, at 9:15 a.m. for race B, and at 9:30 a.m. for race C, from the Era football field in Cieza (Murcia), where the finish line will also be located.

1.- TESTS AND CATEGORIES.

It will consist of three tests:

TEST A

The 25-km circular route runs through the Atalaya de Cieza and Sierra del Oro areas, accumulating a total elevation gain of 1,500 meters. Departure at 9:00 a.m. Runners over 18 years of age or who will turn 18 during 2020 will be eligible to participate in this event.

TEST B

The 15-km circular route, with a cumulative elevation gain of 665 meters, will run around the Atalaya mountain in Cieza and will be open to all categories. The finish line starts at 9:15 a.m.

And the following subcategories:

(*) The age to be taken into account will be the one the runner has as of December 31, 2020.

 (**) Except for 15-year-old runners, who must be of that age on the date of the race.

TEST C

A non-competitive event, with a circular route of 15 km and a cumulative elevation gain of 665 meters, will take place around the Atalaya mountain in Cieza.

The minimum age limit will be 12 years, with the corresponding parental consent.

 

2. REGISTRATIONS.

A total of 500 runners will be eligible to participate in Tests A and B, and 100 hikers will be eligible to participate in Test C. Runners will be able to register until the quota is filled, as will hikers.

Registration begins on January 1, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. for federated runners and hikers with an FMRM B or FEDME license. Registration begins a week later, on January 8, 2020, for all other non-federated runners and hikers.

Registration closes on Thursday, February 27, at 11:59 p.m.

Only federated runners and hikers may register on the day of the race (March 1, 2020), at the bib distribution stand until 8:00 a.m., provided there are free bibs available.

In general, Once the registration has been processed by the runner and validated and confirmed, the registration fee will not be refunded. 

Only for federated runners and hikers: Race numbers may be exchanged between federated runners until February 23, free of charge.

For non-federated runners and hikers, the exchange of race numbers must be expressly authorized by the organizer.

Registration for minors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a duly completed parental consent form, accompanied by a photocopy of the identification documents of each and every signatory; in the case of a legal representative, a document proving this status must also be provided.

3.- REGISTRATION FEE.

Registration gives the right to: participate in the test, accident insurance and civil liability, healthcare, runner's bag, refreshments, physiotherapy services, cloakroom, showers, breakfast, lunch at the end and any gifts the organization can collect.

4.- TECHNICAL TALK.

On February 29, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., a technical talk on the race route will be given by a member of the organization and circuit designer. This talk will take place in the classrooms on Paseo de Cieza (Municipal Library).

We'll also be joined by María and Vicente Morote López, renowned local physiotherapists specializing in various trail running disciplines, including "La Clínica del Corredor" (The Runner's Clinic). They will give a talk on the technical aspects of trail running.

5.- BIB NUMBERS AND CONTROL CHIP

Race numbers, race chip, and race bag can be collected at:

It will be essential to present your ID, and for federated athletes, your federation card as well, to collect your race numbers. 

At the end of the race, you must return the control chip and collect the documentation provided at the start of the race.

6. MANDATORY MATERIAL.

The race organizers recommend the use of windbreakers, which can be checked at the start and/or at any checkpoint, refreshment station, or if deemed necessary. This will be announced days beforehand via Facebook, the website, a technical talk, and at the start.

A water container of more than 500 ml, as well as a glass, since the organization will not provide any type of container.

The race judges will be able to check whether the runner is carrying the mandatory equipment, which in this edition, according to the regulations of the Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia, will be:

 

7.- SIGNALING AND CONTROLS.

The route will be marked with brightly colored plastic tape, and passage through established checkpoints is mandatory. These checkpoints will coincide with the refreshment points. There will also be a checkpoint at the Sierra del Oro geodetic vertex. Kilometer markers will be posted every 5 km.

8.- TIMES OF PASSAGE.

For tests A and B, a checkpoint will close 45 minutes after the start at kilometer 5 (first refreshment station); another at 1:40 a.m. at kilometer 10 (second refreshment station); for test A only, there will be another at 3:00 a.m. at kilometer 15 (third refreshment station), and another at 3:30 a.m. at kilometer 20 (fourth refreshment station).

Hikers only have access to the finish line at 2 p.m.

Runners and hikers who exceed this time limit must withdraw from the race, as neither the organizers nor the assistance services can guarantee their coverage. Likewise, the "sweeper runners" or the person in charge of each checkpoint will have the authority to withdraw any runner from the race if their time or health warrants it. Runners and/or hikers who withdraw must notify the nearest post and return their race number and chip to the organizers. The checkpoint will close at the finish line at 1:30 p.m., and for hikers at 2:00 p.m.

9.- SUPPLIES.

There will be four refreshment stations, located every 5 km. The first and fourth will only offer liquids, while the rest will offer liquids and solids. There will also be refreshment stations at the finish line. There will be a water refill station at the start of the climb to the Sierra del Oro geodetic vertex (firebreak).

Runners and hikers must carry a water bottle or cup, as the organizers will not provide any containers for liquids, thus avoiding contaminating the route or leaving behind trash.

10.- AWARDS.

TEST A

All runners, whether FMRM or FEDME members or others, will be eligible for prizes in the general or absolute category, both male and female.

For runners who are members of the FMRM or FEDME federation, or who are not members of the federation, the following prizes are established.

Special prizes (General or Absolute Test, all runners): 

*The same runner cannot accumulate two prizes in the time trial. The climb to the Sierra del Oro geodetic summit will be timed, from its start at the firebreak to the summit itself (a 1.8-kilometer stretch with a cumulative elevation gain of 540 m, 30 % average elevation gain).

TEST B

All runners, whether FMRM or FEDME members or others, will be eligible for prizes in the general or absolute category, both male and female.

For runners who are members of the FMRM or FEDME federation, or who are not members of the federation, the following prizes are established.

TEST C

Special prizes: 

The organization will set an internal, secret time, which will not be known at the beginning of the test. At the end of the test, the internal time set by the organization will be announced. The hiker who comes closest, above or below this time, will be the special hiker of the test, regardless of the position he or she occupied at the end of the test. 

 

SUCCESSIVE ARTICLES OF THE REGULATIONS.

11. Anyone who fails to comply with these regulations, fails to complete the entire course, damages or litters the surroundings, fails to wear their race number clearly visible, or fails to heed the organizers' instructions will be disqualified.

12. The organization reserves the right to make any necessary modifications to the itinerary based on the various circumstances, as well as to cancel the race if weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances so require.

13. Participants are required to assist those involved in accidents and to respect traffic regulations during the race sections.

14. The organization declines all responsibility in the event of accidents, negligence, or for the belongings of each participant. Participants release the organization from all liability in the event of accidents or injuries. The organization's discretion will apply to any questions or concerns not addressed in these rules.

15. It is necessary to be in adequate physical condition and health for the characteristics of this event, which combines long distances, mountain routes with steep slopes, and exposure to inclement weather.

16. It is advisable to drink at all refreshment stations and eat appropriately, so participants should consider carrying additional liquid and/or solid refreshments themselves. Remember that, in the interest of preserving the environment, plastic cups will not be provided and it is therefore recommended that participants carry a jerry can for liquids.

17. The race takes place in a mountain range of great natural and scenic beauty, so everyone is responsible for preserving the environment. Leaving rubbish outside the control areas will result in disqualification.

18. For anything not covered in these regulations, the test will be based on the regulations of the FMRM (Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia) and FEDME (Spanish Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing).

19. There will be a changing room and shower area.

20. There will be a storage area for participants' belongings. Participants must present their race number to deposit and collect any items.

21. There will be a physiotherapist area at the finish line.

22The circuit is approved and will be overseen by FMRM judges.

23. Data protection: By registering for the event, participants consent to the Organization automatically processing their personal data for sporting or promotional purposes only.
