The Brotherhood of Souls of Cieza is celebrating its 26th Annual Passion Awareness Days. This year, the renowned incense company from Seville is coming to our city to offer a lecture and demonstration/tasting of their expertise with incense.
Incense is an important part of the atmosphere of our processional parades; in the case of the "Jesus opening the gates of hell" procession, it is essential as an element that provides sensations, images, perceptions, and aromas very particular to this unique processional parade.
Next Thursday, November 6th, at 8:30 pm in the Holy Week Museum House of Cieza, the managers of Inciensos de Sevilla will offer a conference and a subsequent demonstration in the Plaza Mayor.
The first part will cover what incense is, how it is extracted, and different methods for creating blends according to preferred nuances and aromas. We will have the opportunity to smell and see exotic incenses from different parts of the world.
Afterwards, an aromatic tour will be conducted using 20 incense sticks from this company; in this part, everything explained theoretically is put into practice.
There will also be a practical class on how to properly light charcoal, how to choose the best incense burner, and how to burn incense in a particular way.
