On January 31st, the manager of the Fire Extinguishing Consortium (CEIS), Verónica López, visited the remodeling works for the second phase of the Cieza Fire Station, in which the regional government is investing €320,000. The project began on January 30th, 2023, and is expected to be completed within eight months.

"The renovation consists of adapting the ground floor of the training tower for temporary use as a gym while the works are underway, creating a new gym located on a mezzanine floor of the first bay of the vehicle hangar, expanding the vehicle hangar at the rear by 254.30 square meters, adapting the access door to the plot on the northwest side, automating it, and renewing the air conditioning in the social building," explained Verónica López.

The Cieza fire station is a zonal fire station with a staff consisting of 25 people (five corporals and 20 firefighter-drivers) on duty 24 hours a day, divided into shifts; and a daily staff of one corporal and four firefighter-drivers, with the chief sergeant as their direct supervisor. This CEIS fire station serves the municipalities of Cieza, Abarán, Archena, Blanca, Ojos, Ulea, Villanueva del Río del Segura, and Ricote.

"Currently, the Cieza fleet has command, urban, rural, tanker, and high-altitude vehicles, all equipped with the necessary tools for firefighting, rescue, and salvage," added the CEIS manager. It's worth noting that the investment in the first phase, which is now complete, was €350,000.
