The Siyâsa Museum inaugurated this Thursday the traveling exhibition "Photography and the City," organized by the Art, Public Space, and Landscape research group of the University of Murcia in collaboration with the Fine Arts Innovation Group, the Arted Teaching Innovation Group, the Fuente Álamo Museum, the Fuente Álamo City Council, the Siyâsa Museum, and the Cieza City Council.
The opening of the exhibition, which will remain open to the public until November 2, featured speeches by the Mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio; the Councilor for Culture, María Turpín; the Director of the Municipal Museum Service, Joaquín Salmerón; and the exhibition's curator, Julio César Abad. Among the audience were representatives from the Cieza City Council and local artists Paulina Real and José Víctor Villalba, creators of two photographic works included in the artistic presentation.
Specifically, these are "Hidden Landscapes in the City" by Real and "Schools for Memory" by Villalba. This project offers a visual reflection on the city as a physical, symbolic, and emotional space. The exhibition brings together the work of 24 artists, 15 of whom are part of the "Art, Public Space, and Landscape" research group at the University of Murcia, while the other nine have been invited to join this collective photography initiative.
