The lecture series held by the Fray Pasqual Salmerón Center for Historical Studies for its 25th anniversary will conclude with a lecture by Cieza historian Manuela Caballero González, who published the first publication in Spain about the events of the Siege of Baler. Thanks to Cieza's hero, Francisco Real Yuste, who recounted the events for a local newspaper upon his return from the Philippines.

He will also talk about the figure of the forensic doctor and inventor from Cieza, Mariano Camacho Carrasco, who fought to improve healthcare in Cieza and the entire Region of Murcia and who was one of the last doctors to leave the Philippines, along with the patients he was caring for.

A closing lecture, entitled "Experiences between Cieza and the Philippines by Francisco Real Yuste and Mariano Camacho Carrasco," will be held at the Padre Salmerón Library on May 9 at 7:30 p.m., according to the poster created by artist Mariano Rojas Marín.

The speaker will be introduced by the president of the Fray Pasqual Salmerón Center for Historical Studies, Francisco Javier Salmerón Giménez, who will close this year's series "Cieza, Abarán, and the Figures Who Made Them Possible." The event will include a raffle for prizes, as the Center for Historical Studies has accustomed us to in this anniversary year.
