The BRIMUR is made up of 20 heli-transported personnel and is ready to act as reinforcements in any fire that breaks out in the Region or to move as support to other autonomous communities that request it.

The Environment Ministry is reinforcing the resources allocated to the Infomur Plan by activating the Forest Fire Brigade (BRIMUR) for the second consecutive year.

This reinforcement unit will remain active during the two months of greatest risk of forest fires, until August 31. Based in Cieza, it is the first brigade to act as primary reinforcement for any forest fire that breaks out in the Region of Murcia, making itself available to the firefighting department.

The BRIMUR is commanded by an environmental officer, and its main asset is its extreme mobility, as it can be activated and helitransported to any part of the region—or to support other autonomous communities if necessary—in a matter of minutes.

The Brigade is made up of 20 forest firefighters who form a daily team of 12, along with a foreman-coordinator. The Brigade also has a 4,000-liter capacity 4x4 firefighting vehicle. Due to its larger membership and its capabilities in firefighting, the Brigade has a specific training plan, which began this week.

The BRIMUR also acts as an extension of existing resources in Cieza, such as the Rapid Intervention Brigade (BIR) and the Forest Fire Brigade (BRIFOR), and is based at the municipality's Forest Defense Center (CEDEMUR).
