The mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, attended a coordination meeting this Monday with the regional government delegate, Francisco Bernabé. At the meeting, an agreement was reached to implement training for the local police to respond to potential terrorist attacks. The strategy is based on the guidelines and instructions contained in Instruction No. 6/2017 of the State Secretariat for Security.
Following the attacks that occurred in Barcelona and Cambrils last August, security plans have been developed. "We must continue working to build a safe space, and this is the way forward," say municipal sources.
In Cieza, several measures have been taken. All of them are based on the Security Plans developed by the State Security Forces. Planters have been placed in high-traffic areas, such as the Esquina del Convento and Plaza de España, and bollards have been installed in high-traffic areas, such as Callejón de los Frailes.
The signing of this agreement aims to establish appropriate mechanisms for understanding and disseminating the security measures to be taken in a situation of this nature. A tool like this aims to provide the Cieza police with the necessary knowledge to minimize the consequences of an attack. It also aims to prevent it, the latter being the main objective.
The aforementioned sources finally emphasize "the well-deserved recognition of the work carried out by the security forces and bodies during their work in extremely dangerous situations such as these. They are the guarantors of security and the conduct of everyday life. Therefore, based on the responsibilities that correspond to us as city councils and the provision of the necessary resources to prevent any adverse circumstances affecting the security of our city, this meeting was attended with the aim of coordinating all the mechanisms and resources necessary to guarantee the safety of every person living in Cieza."
