The Local Government Board of Cieza approved yesterday, in an extraordinary session, the remodeling of the Murcia Road, in the section that extends from the corner of the Convent to the intersection with Gran Vía Juan Carlos I.

This project is part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan and is part of the CIEZA COMERCIA 2.0 project, aimed at strengthening commercial and tourism activity in the area, subsidized by European Funds under 80%.

The renovation aims to transform this space into a green hub, creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment and improving the urban and commercial quality of the area.

Energy and sustainable project

The project includes replacing trees, installing new street furniture, and installing LED lighting to improve energy efficiency. Measures to promote sustainable mobility are also planned, such as charging stations for electric vehicles and parking for bicycles and scooters.

The infrastructure improvements include replacing the water supply and sewage systems, and updating traffic light systems to improve traffic management and reduce environmental impact.

The company CHM Obras e Infraestructuras, SA has been selected to carry out this project, with an estimated completion time of six months. The governing team and the company awarded the contract are aware of the inconvenience that will be caused during the construction, given that this is one of the town's main thoroughfares.

The City Council will take appropriate measures to minimize any inconvenience caused during this time. Therefore, we request public cooperation to make this project, so highly requested, especially by the Ciezan retail sector, a reality.

The remodeling of the Camino de Murcia represents a significant step toward improving Cieza's urban infrastructure, boosting both local commerce and the city's tourist appeal. This effort is part of Cieza City Council's commitment to promoting sustainable and resilient development for the people of Cieza.
