More than 1,000 euros in cash prizes, eight other special awards, around 1,200 toys distributed among the 6,000 spectators who packed the Camino de Murcia and Esquina del Convento avenues, a total of 21 participating cars—the highest number of the sixteen editions of this event—from geographical locations such as Totana, Abarán, Archena, Fuente Álamo, Pinoso, and, of course, Cieza.

The Cieza Wacky Race is growing in popularity every year, having established itself as the city fair's most crowd-attracting activity.

The crazy cars started arriving at the pits at ten in the morning, and from midday onward they launched onto the now traditional Camino de Murcia circuit.

As for the awards, the car 'El Talao' took first place in the Speed category, completing the course in just 30 seconds, followed by 'Los Albares' and 'Gas Mokey'.

The originality was in 'Caballo de Troya', with the convoy 'Tribute to Fleki' taking first place, a tribute to the memory of a man who has since passed away and who sweetened the town's patron saint festivities for countless years with his unbeatable waffles and 'Hotrook'.

Finally, the award for best staging went to the Peña Autolocotón, a crazy car that simulated a crate of fruit in clear homage to Cieza, Europe's leading peach producer, and to the fruit cooperatives and farmers of the municipality.

The awards ceremony was attended by Mayor Pascual Lucas and Councilor for Celebrations, María Jesús López.

Spanish television's afternoon program 'España Directo' is scheduled to broadcast a report on the test this week.
