“During the pandemic, and especially in the first months of lockdown, the balconies and windows of all Cieza residents became key spaces for expression and community communication. The Cieza City Council wants to pay tribute to them and, at the same time, contribute to the town's Christmas decorations by encouraging the participation of all residents, who have done such important work during these difficult months,” explains a municipal statement.
To this end, the Departments of Festivals and Citizen Participation have announced the 1st Christmas Balcony Decoration Contest. All homes with balconies or windows are welcome to participate, with a limit of one entry per home.
To participate, you must send a photo of your decorated balcony or window, along with the address and identification of the owner, to the email address participacionciudadanacieza@gmail.com by December 26th.
"We encourage everyone to participate in this contest and help bring a Christmas atmosphere to our streets, in such adverse circumstances as those we are going through," the same sources indicate.
In addition, participants will be eligible for the following cash prizes: First prize: €300. Second prize: €200. Third prize: €100. The jury's decision will be announced on January 28th at 8:00 PM in the Manuela Burló Room. Should health conditions prevent an in-person award ceremony, an alternative method will be used to deliver the prizes to the winners.
