Within this program, students in the first cycle of compulsory secondary education receive six teaching units that address the problems associated with experimentation with legal drugs such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and the most widely used illegal drug, cannabis.
In the middle of February, the activities of the Argos Community Program, through the Municipal Drug Addiction Prevention Plan.
Three of these units are taught in the first year of secondary school and are specifically aimed at preventing alcohol consumption, under the name 'Alcohol: awareness with science'; the three taught in the second year of secondary school reinforce the prevention of alcohol consumption and include tobacco and cannabis, hence the name 'ALTACAN Drugs'.'.
These programs involve collaboration between health centers, compulsory secondary education centers, and local drug prevention plans in the Region of Murcia.
For both first-year and second-year students, the preventive action revolves around a class visit to the local health center, accompanied by teachers and one or more healthcare professionals; the latter are the ones who lead the activity.
Three activities are carried out with the students: the first teaching unit is carried out by teachers with their students in the classroom; the second is taught by healthcare personnel to each class that visits the reference health center of each secondary school; and the third is carried out by teachers at the school.
"It is worth noting that the educational centers affiliated with the Cieza-Este Health Center have received the teaching unit taught by healthcare professionals at the Social Welfare Center."
The program's main objective is to reduce adolescent alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis use, as well as the associated health risks. Its specific objectives include providing students with knowledge about the consequences of alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis use; demystifying the use of alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis; and promoting reflection on peer pressure.
