Reconstruction work on the bridge over the La Presa riverbank in Cieza, which collapsed as a result of torrential rains on June 12, will begin shortly, according to municipal sources.

The construction company that will be in charge of the work has streamlined the drafting of the project, speeding up the necessary procedures to begin construction.

The urgency of this action, given that it is a strategic communication route for agricultural holdings in the area, has led the various administrations involved to join forces to provide a quick solution and restore normality.

Both Mayor Tomás Rubio and Agriculture Councilor Manuel Martínez have been in constant contact with the river basin authority to expedite the process.

Thus, the Segura River Basin Authority will proceed in parallel with the work to unblock and clear the riverbed, ensuring adequate water flow and preventing future flooding. For its part, the Cieza City Council will be responsible for replacing the asphalt and the railing on the bridge once its reconstruction is complete.
