Wednesday, March 11, 2020, The Cieza City Council announces that: Due to the spread of the Coronavirus Covid-19 worldwide, and its arrival in the Region of Murcia in recent hours, the following prevention measures will be taken, following the health recommendations of the competent authorities.
These measures will remain in effect for the next 15 days, until further official announcement:
• All cultural, sporting and leisure activities programmed by the Cieza City Council are suspended or postponed, including those belonging to the Flowering Tourism Project.
• The “Las Morericas” Senior Citizens Center has been closed.
• From March 12th, the Municipal Library facilities, the study rooms, the WALA open access classroom, and the Municipal Swimming Pool facilities will be closed to the public.
• The activities of the Popular University are suspended.
• Cleaning and disinfection have been intensified in all municipal facilities.
• Hand sanitizing gel and posters with hygiene recommendations have been distributed to all educational centers in the municipality, pending guidelines that may be issued by the Ministry of Education.
• A special municipal monitoring committee has been created to closely monitor the situation and take the necessary measures. All members of the municipal corporation and the general public will be duly informed.
We will continue to provide updates on any new developments or guidelines from the responsible authorities. Users of certain services who have questions about their use can contact the facility by phone to inquire about their status.
It is important to continue following the recommendations to take extra care and practice good personal hygiene, especially handwashing. These measures aim to prevent the spread of the virus. We are in constant contact with the Health Area IX Management, and at present, we can confirm that there are no known cases of infection in Cieza; therefore, all measures are focused on prevention.
