Following the latest changes to business opening hours made by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the councilor responsible for this area in the municipality of Cieza, María Jesús López, has asked merchants in those businesses that are allowed to remain open to maintain the more restrictive hours that were in place prior to the change.

Aware that these are not municipal powers, we do want to call on businesses to limit their hours as they have been. Citizens can adapt to the hours imposed before the change, with the closing time being 8:00 PM and the recommended closing time being 7:00 PM, thus avoiding risks for the merchants themselves and for those visiting them.

We are facing a VERY SERIOUS, exceptional situation that requires everyone's involvement. We all want this to end as quickly as possible, and we must do our part.

We should limit the number of times we go shopping, because even though we are focused on what we can do, every time we leave the house we are putting our health and that of those around us at risk.
We ask that you use store phones to place orders or have them delivered, shop once a week, and strictly maintain social distancing and hygiene measures. All of this is within our power and contributes to saving lives.

In addition to the health crisis, merchants are also suffering an economic crisis, and it needs to end as soon as possible, for them and for the entire population. I'm sure the people of Cieza will appreciate their efforts when this is over. The City Council will continue to do everything in its power to do its part, but it's time for responsibility, unity, and for everyone to contribute.

SOLIDARITY, CALMNESS, and RESPECT for the RULES is what we at Cieza City Council ask of the public, as it is the only way to STOP THE SPREAD.
