Seven families will receive support from the Cieza City Council's Department of Sports, facilitating regional, national, and international competitions for high-level athletes. A total of €25,000 will be allocated to support sports and athletes who invest money and effort in their respective competitions.
During the last week of December, grants were awarded to sports entities and elite athletes based on competition level and classification criteria in each of the calls to which they applied, thus rewarding the effort made by families to guarantee the healthy exercise of high-performance sport.
The Department of Sports states that “the commitment to grassroots sports has inspired the development of the guidelines for these grants. In consultation with sports organizations, requirements and evaluation criteria have been included that are tailored to the realities of these organizations and the specific circumstances that define the grants.”
The beneficiaries of this part have been the clubs: Cieza Basketball School Club, Cieza Handball School, Ruy López Cieza Chess Club, Cieza Volleyball Club, Atlético FS Club, Cieza Futsal Club, Kenwa Club, Bosco Cieza Club Association, Cieza Tennis Club and Athleo Cieza Athletics Club Association.
Both announcements were published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia, as well as on the Cieza.es portal, after informing the entities and people interested present in the Municipal Sports Council, which has monitored the process of publication and awarding of the aid.
“Sport builds a civic and respectful society through values such as perseverance, effort, and the drive to excel. Furthermore, it establishes health and well-being as goals to be achieved by a society where immediacy and limited time shape behavior. With this in mind, universalizing access to sport and helping athletes from Cieza to improve are some of the objectives pursued by the Department of Sports,” municipal sources concluded.
